My nails used to chip by day three. Every single time.
I'd spend an hour at the salon, walk out feeling put together, and then — Tuesday rolls around and there's a chunk missing from my thumb. I blamed the polish. I blamed the top coat. Turns out I was doing everything wrong after I left.
A few things actually made a difference once I figured them out.
Cold water right after your appointment
I know, it sounds annoying — but hot water expands the nail and lifts polish before it's fully cured. Give it at least an hour before you do dishes or hop in the shower. Queen of Nails actually reminded me of this last time I was in. Simple tip, huge difference.
Cuticle oil isn't just a spa thing
I started keeping a little bottle on my desk and using it every night before bed. Dry cuticles crack and pull at the edges of your polish. Once I made it a habit, my manicures started going two weeks easy.
The way you use your hands matters more than the polish brand
Opening cans, typing with your fingertips instead of the pads, peeling stickers. Small stuff. I started using the side of my finger for random tasks and it sounds ridiculous but it works.
If you're in Anaheim or anywhere in OC and your polish never seems to last, it's probably not the salon. It's the aftercare.
